On Saturday, December 16th Culinary Club will be meeting at Karen's house to go to Bistro 561--students from the California School of Culinary Arts are the chefs who run it. Come to my house around 10:30 - 11:00. Email me for directions and address.

IF WE DO NOT GET A RESERVATION--[as they are very popular]--WE WILL GO TO A DIFFERENT RESTAURANT IN PASADENA

Like I said, it's very unlikely that we get a good reservation so people who want to go should contact me ASAP. They are a high-end restaurant that is extremely popular and open on only certain and very picky times. It is unlikely, I repeat, unlikely that we may get a spot. Otherwise, we'll go to:

Akira is a French restaurant with a Japanese flair-- a very high end restaurant and famous with prices ranging from $11 - $25. Very artistic dishes that are simplistic to very intricate. Highly Recommended.

Holly's Bar and Grill [another upscale restaurant open for DINNER only] which features contemporary and artistic creations by Master Chef Humberto Padilla and his staff.

Bistro 45 features yet again, contemporary art flair that is more toned down but still delicious.

--KAREN :DDD

We will be going there December 16th, the weekend before Winter Break [because they will be closed on most of our breaks]. We will go shopping at Old Town Pasadena afterwards. After that, we'll head to the Nature Mart -- an all natural supermarket that exhibits natural-grown everything. Bring extra money for this because I can guarantee you that you will find something you will want to buy from there. :) If we don't have enough people going, I might allow you to invite one friend-- but we still need one more person to give rides. :O

--karen

Tuesday's meeting went pretty well. We had cupcakes for people who came. We also discussed Japanese Culture Day plans!

We'll be having it November 10 on Veteran's Day [lol-- hey no school!]. Also, according to Japanese Culture Club president Nick Katoh, we'll be starting around 3:30/4:00 and will be having it either at Heritage Park...or someone's house. We're expecting the park.

If you guys are interested, EMAIL ME. The clubs can't pay for all the food. We'll need you to bring in some ingredients. Never fear, even though this is Japanese Food, most of the ingredients can be found easily in Asian Markets-- i.e. The Korean Market [HAMNANCHANG?], 99 Ranch Market. IF you really want to go to a Japanese Market, you can go to a really small one next to Puente Hills mall [where Party World used to be]. It's pretty authentic but... it's kind of overpriced [those darn japanese :3] so I wouldn't suggest going there. Since you're pretty much buying ingredients for...20+ people.

Anyways, your emails are like a sign-up sheet! So, yes. :D

By the way, for those who didn't know.. our meetings are in room 145-- MRS. CLARK/SUPIK. It's right around the corner if you go straight down the stairs from the choir room.

--karen

If you are reading this entry-- you have reached the DBHS culinary club website-- you're right.. it's not a big site, in fact, it's just a live journal.

Regardless, I am glad you have joined the Culinary Club and embarked on this culinary experience. What you can expect from us is not just another fan club-- rather we will be having trips and projects. We are hoping to compile our own recipes into an end-of-the year cookbook-- and to achieve that goal, we expect to do fundraisers [i.e. cookie-dough sales]. Yeah pretty down-to-earth and uh, rudimentary but what's done needs to be done, right? You can expect to go out to restaurants in both the city, the country, and most likely in our general area sometimes we might go farther. We will also try to become more of a group by occasionally holding cooking parties at someone's house practicing cooking, eating, and just having fun. Guests may come to speak with us such as chefs from restaurants and food critics if we can find the chance.

Meetings are once every month [or more if something big comes up] on Fridays. They are to be in Mrs. Clark's Room 144.

I am sure you will have an enjoyable stay this year as members.

Culinary Club President
Karen Chi <3 :]
